Attitude Of Gratitude

Ps 100:1-5 A psalm. For giving thanks. 100 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. 2 Worship the Lord with gladness; Come before him with joyful songs. 3 Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his a; We are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Recently, I prepared a meal for myself and my roommates. (I do this often). Everyone ate the meal joyfully and happily and this made me happy as well because I was a blessing to them; But I can’t remember any of them saying a “thank you” or a “God bless you”, although I didn’t notice this until the next night when another roommate prepared a more delicious meal. Then I started hearing comments straight to my face how the meal I prepared last night was not delicious, I was told almost every flaws of the meal in the wrong way, as if that was not enough, they told me testimonies of how they gave the meal to outsiders because they could not finish it… and I was blank, couldn’t say anything, all I did was listen. Of course I felt very bad about the incident that night. I woke up the next morning with pains and hurts of the words of my roommates from the previous night, and then I put on my thinking cap, my thought were as follows: “After all the stress I went through Preparing a meal for these guys … They didn’t even ask for food o… I was just trying to be nice and this Is what I get back in return...? They are so ungrateful… “ During the course of my thought, the comforter (Holyspirit) stepped in, can you guess what He said... “That is how we humans hurt God too”. And I was speechless and thoughtless at the same time. These words comforted me and at the same time told me I was also guilty of the same offence. Then I kept myself in God’s position for some seconds and I was like so this is how I offend God every time I don’t thank Him, and when I complain also or even going to the extent of giving outsiders what God has given to me with the wrong heart and motives just like my roommates did. I’m sure God is more hurt and offended than I was because millions of people do this to Him on daily basis. I became gentle and immediately forgave my roommates even though they didn’t ask for it. I urge us today to have a heart of thanksgiving, we offend God every time He blesses us with what we ask for and did not ask for and we refuse to thank Him. Some of us even go to that extent of complaining. It is very wrong. We can’t receive more from God if we keep complaining. After all he has done, we are still so ungrateful. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving And his courts with praise; Give thanks to him and praise his name. 5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations. Lastly, another very great act of ungratefulness and unfaithfulness is when we offend God by committing sin or living in sin, it simply means we are not grateful to Him for sending His only son to die for our sins and that is why we keep going back to those sins; repent today. Thank God for everything. Thank Him even when you don’t like the Nokia 3310 you are using. And remember not to complain or grumble unto God. Be thankful to Him also for sending His only son to die for your sins by running away from those sins. Develop an attitude of gratitude. Thank you.
